2013 Market Button Art Competition
This year we asked our talented Grade 3 through 5 artists to design a Market Button that consists of original artwork in the form of one character (animal, vegetable, fruit, adult, child etc) and a slogan that encourages kids to eat fruits and vegetables. In addition they were asked to answer a number of questions that focused their attention on healthy eating. Seventy-one students from the St. Helena Elementary School, St. Helena Catholic School, St. Helena Montessori School, and The Young School submitted entries.
Our young artists did a fabulous job presenting the judges with a very difficult task. Our Grand Prize Winner is the Young School’s fifth grader, Jordan’s “Veggies Rule” character. Jordan’s artwork will adorn our adult, youth, toddler and infant apparel and a range of different merchandise for sale at the market’s General Store. Runner-Up Grand Prize Winner is St. Helena Elementary School’s fourth grader, Amélie Parr. All of the participant’s artwork will be displayed at the market’s General Store throughout the season so do make sure you stop by and see their wonderful creativity.
We offer a very big thank you to all the students who participated and to all of the parents and teachers who supported and encouraged the young artists!
