Market Volunteer Booth: Loan out red wagons, sell SHFM merchandise, enjoy the sunshine!
Pastry booth: Man the pastry counter, coffee and drinks.
Get on Board: Occasionally there are openings to join this dedicated group of community volunteers who manage the long term operation of the Market. The St. Helena Farmers' Market is interested in expanding our community education and outreach programs. We are fortunate to have a market manager and two assistants.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
If you’re reading this, you probably agree that the St. Helena Farmers’ Market is truly a community treasure—and has been for twenty-two years! With community support, we have been able to create and maintain a vibrant market that currently hosts over forty vendors each week. This year, we will have music at every market and frequent cooking demos by local chefs and food writers. Our Market is directed by an all-volunteer board that is dedicated to improving the market. We are passionate about providing the Market as a service to you, our community, and as a tribute to our local farmers. Although we work hard and exercise careful fiscal management, we cannot survive and grow without your support. We ask for your donation, not to fund the general operations of the market, but to fund specific initiatives that will improve our market and our service to you as a member of the community.
We’re not picky. We’ll gladly take anything you offer. We are just so very happy for your support. Here are the donor and sponsor groups:
- The Saffron Group ($ 250 and up)—You’re as treasured as gold. For those people who really dig the Market and want to make sure it is one of the Bay Area’s best small markets.
- The Red Wagon Group ($ 100 to 249)—For dedicated Market goers who want to make shopping more fun and easier for everyone.
- The Mulch Group (under $ 100)—You’re a large group who we count on to nurture the Market and keep it running.
- Weekly Market Sponsorship: Here’s a chance to help keep the Market a happening place. As a weekly sponsor, your dollars make it possible to offer cooking demos, live music, clowns, contests, and tastings. We mention your business in our St. Helena Star newspaper article, as well as give you exposure at the Market and on our website. Win-win. Approximate cost: $350 per week. You can sponsor one week or several weeks.
Purchases we will make or have made with your donation to the St. Helena Farmers’ Market:
New Tables and Chairs – Our folding tables were wobbly and tired. Approximate cost: $3,000.
Improved Signage – To attract shoppers and friends, we needed to make sure folks knew where and when to find us. We needed more and better signs to do this. Approximate cost: $2,000.
Pastry Service Counter – Our volunteers arrive at the market site at 5:00 AM to bring you fresh coffee and baked goods. We continue to make improvements to this service area. Approximate cost: $1,000.
Website Make-over and Updates: Our website was so dated and had no current information. We have just completed a makeover and plan for frequent updates. We’d like to add an educational page for kids and teachers to the website. Approximate cost this year: $1,500.
Shopping Carts: We encourage our patrons to take advantage of the wonderful produce and other items we offer. When they buy more than they can comfortably carry, we want to provide carts or wagons to make their experience more enjoyable. Approximate cost: $1,500.
